WWF

Gert heads the Forests & Wildlife Unit of WWF-NL and supports WWF's Arctic and Russian programmes.

He co-facilitates WWF's work on human-wildlife conflict management focusing on an integrated approach, fostering exchange of lessons learned and driving innovations. As a leadership team member of the WWF Wildlife Practice, Gert supports global wildlife conservation efforts.

Before joining WWF-NL in 2007 he worked overseas, running tropical freshwater and forest conservation programmes.

While the challenges of the Arctic’s future can not be resolved in the Arctic alone, its ecosystems are still functioning naturally; together with its enormous size, the Arctic is full of conservation opportunity and therefore I am convinced that if we can make conservation succeed, the Arctic is one of the obvious places on this planet where we will.
