Specialist, Arctic shipping and marine conservation
Melissa's passion for the Arctic led her to WWF, where she works on providing policy, science and community research capacity on issues related to Arctic shipping and marine protection.
Melissa received her Bachelors of Science in Marine Biology and Oceanography from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. She then completed her Masters of Science in Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa, ON. During her studies, Melissa conducted research on sea ice and icebergs in the Canadian and Norwegian Arctic.
I’m driven by the fact that the work I do has the power to positively impact marine wildlife habitats and Indigenous ways of life at a pivotal time in a changing Arctic.
